Training built for the shop floor, not the head office.

Retail teams carry more than most head-office wellbeing programmes account for — difficult customers, incidents in store, and a store-manager layer expected to hold it all together. We train for the job as it actually is.

THE PROBLEM

A store is a public room. Whatever walks through the door lands on your team first, and it doesn't wait for a good moment.

Aggression at the till. A regular customer who dies. A colleague going through something at home that shows up on shift. High turnover, split sites, and a store manager who was promoted for hitting targets — not for holding a team through a hard week. The wellbeing training most retailers buy was written for a desk job and delivered down a webinar to people who are on their feet all day.

The gap between “we rolled out an e-learning module” and “our store managers can handle what actually happens on the floor” is exactly what The Resilience Room is built to close.

WHY MOST WELLBEING TRAINING DOESN'T WORK IN RETAIL

Written for a desk. Delivered to a shop floor.

The dominant providers in workplace mental health training built their offers for the broad corporate market. The translation to a retail floor tends to be thin — awareness-level content, often delivered remotely, to people who can't step away from the till and don't trust that whoever wrote it has ever worked a shift.

We start with what a shift actually throws up.

Confrontation, sudden incidents in store, bereaved customers, and colleagues carrying things that don't stay at home.

We build it around store managers.

Your store and area managers are the wellbeing system. Equip that layer and the whole floor steadies.

We deliver in person, and we flex to your shifts.

Short, practical sessions that work around a rota — not a full day nobody can be released for.

PROOF

We've already done this in a retail environment.

We delivered a full-day workplace wellbeing workshop for a Vodafone store team — practical tools for a frontline retail environment, delivered in person by Steve. Retail isn't a stretch for us. It's a room we already know.

HOW A TYPICAL ENGAGEMENT WORKS

Four steps, no surprises.

Discovery call

30 minutes. We understand your store network, your pressures, and what you've tried before.

Proposal

Specific recommendations, prices, and dates within a week — built around your rota, not against it.

Pilot workshop

One programme, delivered with one store team or one cohort of managers.

Review and expand

If the pilot lands (it usually does), we discuss rollout across the network and whether a retainer makes sense.

We don't sell a network-wide rollout before we've proved we can deliver. The pilot is how trust gets built.

WHO DELIVERS YOUR TRAINING?

A qualified, clinically-trained practitioner. Not a trainer who read the slides.

Our training is delivered by Steve Pointon BSc (Hons) MBACP, a qualified counsellor who has spent his career working with people facing grief, illness, and serious psychological pressure.

Before his counselling career, Steve spent years as a senior manager in the security industry, responsible for teams of over 200 people and a client portfolio of more than £4 million. He has run frontline, public-facing operations — he knows the difference between a wellbeing policy and a manager who can actually hold their team on a bad day.

This isn't bought-in facilitation. The person who designed the training is the person in the room — the same person who delivered our full-day workshop for a Vodafone store team.

Every session is delivered live, in person, in small groups. No associates. No remote substitutes.

Worth a 30-minute conversation?

If you lead people, operations, or a store network in retail — the discovery call is the place to start. No prep needed, no sales pitch.
